Patience is one of my learned virtues.

I'm a poet, a dreamer and a passionate grandmother and co-parent of my two youngest grand sons. They, along with my daughter, live with me and have for the majority of their lives.

The 10 year old has early onset bipolar disorder; the 8 year old is ADHD. The day-to-day challenges of raising these amazing, albeit volatile, young men keeps life chaotic, often stressful, but never boring.

The past five years have been an eye-opener when it comes to navigating the mental health system, especially when it involves young children. I am fortunate in that I live in an amazing public ISD that bends over backwards to accommodate children with special needs and/or emotional disorders.

I have become so passionate about the challenges these kids face that I became a substitute teacher in the special education departments of the surrounding elementary schools.

In my spare time (???) I write poetry. My taste in books, music, art, poetry, movies is largely eclectic and shifts with my moods.

In short, I think I would describe myself as a young soul in and old body! :)
